As part of our B.I.G. Initiative (Building to Inspire a Generation) we are committed to giving young people the opportunities to learn and grow. Lauren talks about her work experience at Woodhead’s in June 2015:
“From the moment I arrived at Robert Woodhead Ltd I was made to feel extremely welcome. I found that Matt Bust was particularly helpful, whilst I was there. He was constantly checking up on my well-being. He also made sure I knew exactly what I was doing each day and introduced me to the members of staff I would be working alongside.
Whilst I was there I was given a range of tasks to complete which helped me learn what the financial team and the quantity surveyors do within any particular working day. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the quantity surveyors from Woodhead Living, Woodhead Heritage and the dedicated Lincolnshire Team as I found that I learnt a lot from all three teams. particularly how to price jobs and measure drawings to the correct scale. Working with the quantity surveyors helped me decide that it is a career I wish to pursue. I also enjoyed my time with the finance team, particularly learning about how the subcontractors are paid.”
