Short listed for East Midlands Building Excellence Awards 2012

Robert Woodhead Ltd has been short listed for two prestigious LABC East Midlands Building Excellence Awards.

The awards are for:

  • Best Partnership for Babworth Yoga Centre and
  • Best Small Commercial Development for The Newfield Ice Cream Parlour, Hockerton

These awards are particularly important as they celebrate the essence of good buildings. Finalists are judged on the “Excellence” shown from a construction and technical building control point of view. The awards highlight where teams have had to overcome technical issues or difficult sites through the use of innovative and creative solutions.

The Babworth Yoga Centre project certainly provided an interesting site as Robert Woodhead Ltd was refurbishing a Grade II Listed Edwardian Building and effectively converting “The Old Squash Court” into a yoga centre. Works include re-roofing, structural works as well as internal fit out including extensive M&E infrastructure and the project was completed in partnership with The Jasmine Trust, Studio G Architecture LLP and project managers WDA Projects.

Robert Woodhead Ltd is competing with three other projects for the Best Partnership Award and four others for the Best Small Commercial Development Award. Representatives from the company will be attending the black tie award dinner and presentation is to be held on the 18th May at The Nottingham Belfry Hotel.

Further details regarding the Babworth Yoga Centre/Squash Courts are available on the Robert Woodhead Ltd website.
