Robert Woodhead continues to support young apprentices

Christopher Richards joins Robert Woodhead Ltd on a three year junior apprenticeship in July 2012, when he will have finished school.

Christopher undertook work experience with Robert Woodhead Ltd in the Woodhead Heritage division, under the Junior Apprenticeship scheme initially and will join as an apprentice joiner.

His first posting will see him gain hands on experience at The Parish Church of St Nicholas extension.

The appointment of Christopher continues Robert Woodhead Ltd’s ongoing commitment to young people dating back to the 1940’s when Robert Woodhead first employed and trained apprentices. More recently, Robert Woodhead Ltd’s activity has included:

  • Student experience being a site manager for a day at the Heritage Skills Centre at Lincoln Castle in April 2012.
  • Young students visit the Cross Street code 5 development to gain an understanding of what is required to achieve code 5 and how a site is run. A three minute film available on the Robert Woodhead Ltd YouTube channelincludes interviews with the students, as well as an interview with Michael Broadhurst, a University Placement Student with Robert Woodhead Ltd.
  • The Apprentice for a Day event at Kelham Hall on 7 April 2011 in association with Construction Skills and Education Business Futures. Details can be found on the Robert Woodhead YouTube channel.

Continuing their commitment, on 22 June 2012, Robert Woodhead Ltd in conjunction with Lincoln College will be holding a Heritage Skills Day, at the Heritage Skills Centre at Lincoln Castle for 20 to 30 students from Lincoln College. This day will include tours and hands-on workshops.
