Accreditation for Robert Woodhead
Over the past few months our in house Health and Safety Co-ordinator has been busy undertaking the annual review of our accreditations and we can confirm we have again been CHAS accredited this year. There is some more good news, we have also received new internationally recognised certification, the OHSAS18001:2007 Certificate for our commitment to effectively managing occupational Health and Safety across our company.
The new system will enable Robert Woodhead’s existing ISO9001:2008 accredited management systems better protect the health of employees on our sites. The OHSAS18001:2007 management system has led to new protocols being put in place to better manage monitor and control our activities to identify potential risks at an even earlier stage. The management system will be used company wide to promote our Everyone Everyday Home Safe imitative which will be launched later this summer. Part of this initiative is the delivery of a series of Health and Safety workshops designed exclusively for our key supply chain partners happening over the next few weeks.
Robert Woodhead Limited is also ISO14001:2004 accredited, our Environmental Management Certificate enables us to minimise our impact on the environment. We have reduced our waste to landfill year on year to just 4.76% going to landfill in 2011 an achievement we are looking to beat in 2012. We have been successful in reducing our waste to landfill because of our reuse, recycle philosophy. A stand out site is the Heritage Skills Centre, Lincoln Castle in which only 1 skip have been used so far, of that 0% went to landfill. Peter Winson, Site Manager at the Heritage Skills Centre commented “it is truly an exceptional achievement on my next project I am committed to going one better and not using any skips at all!”
