With the Pleasley Colliery Regeneration project now complete and having won numerous awards*, we thought it was only fitting that we organise some filming at the site with those involved in making it happen.
The film, Pleasley Colliery Regeneration, can be viewed now and includes interviews with Jon Humble, Inspector of Ancient Monuments at English Heritage and Richard Savage, Site Manager for Robert Woodhead Ltd who highlights the work undertaken to restore the colliery.
Jon Humble from English Heritage comments, “This site is extremely important. It is one of only three historic colliery sites in Derbyshire which are legally protected as scheduled monuments and this is the best preserved of the lot.”
Steve Saunders, Partner at William Saunders Architects was clearly impressed with the lack of intervention and the skilled restoration of the windows whilst Simon Butler, Heritage Manager at Woodhead Heritage explained the minimum intervention approach adopted by the company.
Dr George Kavvouras, Area Manager, Homes and Communities Agency highlighted how the investment has paid dividends whist Michael Parr, Communications Manager; The Land Trust explained their involvement in the project as the legal owners of the site.
Rounding up Jon Humble from the English Heritage highlighted,” It’s a fantastic ancient monument!”
