We are delighted to announce that Robert Woodhead Ltd has been independently judged to be a ‘Good Employer’. One of only 11 contractors in The Building Good Employer Guide 2011 and also one of the smallest contractors to make the list, Robert Woodhead Ltd is pleased to receive the recognition from this leading construction magazine and their independent panel of judges.

The Employer Guide 2011 for the first time saw the introduction of an expert judging panel including Graham Watts, Chief Executive of the Construction Industry Council and from the UK Contractors Group, Rachel Done. The panel were asked to “scrutinise companies’ policies towards their staff and wider corporate social responsibility.” (Sarah Richardson, editor, The Building Good Employer Guide 2011) The judges looked specifically at:

  • Number of full time employees
  • Maximum number of days holiday
  • Training hours
  • Pension options
  • Female non-administrative staff numbers
  • Staff from non-white ethnic background
  • Sabbaticals/career breaks
  • Flexitime
  • Chance to work abroad
  • Private health scheme provision
  • Enhanced maternity benefits
  • Enhanced paternity benefits
  • Staff turnover

Robert Woodhead scored particularly well with regard to staff turnover at only 6%, staff training, private health scheme provision, flexitime and their attitude towards career breaks and sabbaticals.
